The 1960s Transistor Workshop

I've received so many encouraging emails I've been persuaded to continue my repair service but I'm restricting it to transistor radios from the Fab Fifties, Swinging Sixties and Sexy Seventies, including vintage transistor car radios, together with valve portables and small table radios.

Roberts radios (all models) repaired for £25 plus cost of return post. Price includes all small electronic parts but new vinyl handles £10 extra.  Hacker models repaired for the same price. 18v stabilised mains PSU for Hacker models £17 if ordered at the same time as repair.

Coronet 2-transistor boy's radio

Fab Sixties pocket trannies, reliable repair £10 (inc parts)+ cost of return postage.

Especially for Volkswagen owners: Blaupunkt dual voltage, dual polarity radios, valve + inverter and fully transistorised versions: cost of repair £35 (+ return post) which includes replacement of all small parts that will have deteriorated over the past forty-odd years.

Sony ICF-SW1

Full electronic refurbishment of Sony ICF-SW1 is £40 + return post.  This includes all small parts except for any special components (very rarely needed).  I even throw in a pair of new alkaline AAs.  Other models serviced for the same price: ICF-SW 7600, ICF-SW77, ICF-SW2001, PRO-80.  Also the small Grundig YB models.

Rather than spend hard-earned money on inferior imports it makes both economic and evironmental sense to repair your older, better made equipment. Don't worry about it becoming obsolete: there are no plans to discontinue analogue radio broadcasts - and given the problems now becoming obvious with DAB nor will there be in the foreseeable future.

Please feel free to call my mobile number: 07759 650 878 or send a text in plain English - I've now got a vintage Nokia Communicator with a large PDA display that I can actually see!  If it's turned off or you get no reply please try later or email. I'd like to thank customers past and present for their support.
