Miniature valve radios like this American Noblitt & Sparks Mighty Mite welcome.

Full
electronic refurbishment of Sony ICF-SW1 is £40 + return
post.
This includes all small parts except for any special
components
(very rarely needed). I even throw in a pair of new alkaline
AAs. Other models serviced for the same price: ICF-SW 7600,
ICF-SW77, ICF-SW2001, PRO-80. Also the small Grundig YB models.
Rather than spend hard-earned money on inferior imports it makes both economic and evironmental sense to repair your older, better made equipment. Don't worry about it becoming obsolete: there are no plans to discontinue analogue radio broadcasts - and given the problems now becoming obvious with DAB nor will there be in the foreseeable future.

I'd like to thank customers past and present for their
